Hi there
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog!
My name is Jill and I have always been in love with books and reading. Most of my earliest memories include books. My parents read to me and my brother every night and I will never forget the excitement of discovering The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. I was totally captivated and wanted to a magic tree all of my own.
Since then books have always been a big part of me. I love the opportunity to escape the humdrum of everyday life as often as is possible. What is better than whiling away a busy commute, or a boring day than finding a book that excites you and whisks you off to a world where nothing is impossible.
Since August 2013 reading has become even more important to me. Having spent many years pushing myself too hard my body has had enough and has forced me to stop (temporarily I hope). I have spent most of the time since in bed unable to do anything with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have to be honest and say that life has been pretty miserable, so books really have been my lifeline.
I like most types of books, and like to mix things up, so will give most things a go. However I do have a great love for chick-lit. I am a romantic at heart and love a happy ending! There are so many amazing authors out there I am spoilt for choice.
I also love horror, crime and thriller books. There is nothing quite like the adrenalin rush of evading serial killers, playing detective and trying to guess who dunnit before the police or detectives do. I have spent many a night dreaming that I am the next big crime solver and tracking down the bad guys.
I decided to start this blog in February this year after becoming totally isolated and despondent with my illness. As well as reading I love to talk, and being stuck in bed for months on end has deprived me of that. I hated not being able to shout about the great books and authors I was discovering. I also wanted to give myself a purpose, and you never know, maybe improve my internet and writing skills at the same time.
I really hope you will enjoy this blog and find my reviews useful in helping you choose what to read next.
