The Blurb:

Chocolate…the most irresistible temptation?
The Gingerbread Café is all a buzz! This Easter, Lily and the rest of the town of Ashford, Connecticut are planning a truly decadent Chocolate Festival. Cooking up a storm, CeeCee and Lily are not just baking a batch of their sinfully delicious chocolate-dipped gingerbread men, but an excess of chocolate truffles, squidgy, cinnamony hot cross buns and melt in your mouth chocolate eggs. The Gingerbread Café staff have definitely enjoyed the tasting process!

Add in Damon’s cute-as-a-button seven year old daughter, Charlie, up for a visit and Lily’s perfect Easter may just be around the corner. Until her ex-husband Joel turns up demanding twenty thousand dollars… Suddenly the future of the Gingerbread Café is not so clear…and Lily finds herself eating far more of The Gingerbread Café’s treats than her skinny jeans allow…

Can Lily concoct a brilliant plan to save her beloved café, convince Damon she has no feelings for Joel and still throw a Chocolate Festival the town will be talking about for years? There’s only one way to find out...

Welcome back to the warmth, cupcakes and hot chocolate of The Gingerbread Café – your home away from home

My Review:

This is the second instalment of the Gingerbread Cafe series, and my third visit as I read them out of sequence. Awwwww I love them all. I found them such warm, feel good reads and just love the characters. Cee Cee and Lil are my favourites, and of course the gorgeous Damon, but I like them all and would so love to live in their town with them.

The Gingerbread Cafe feels to me a bit like Central Perk in Friends, where you could gather and hang out with your friends in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, or even go there alone to escape everything.

This book is slightly longer and so was able to get a bit deeper with the storyline. Lil is now in a relationship and living with Damon, and oh so happy. But of course, as with all great love affairs there is always something that comes along to test it. That turns up in the form of Joel, her ex husband....cue lots of booing and hissing from me! I already disliked him from the first book when we found out that he had broken her heart, so when he turns up being mean I wanted to jump in and punch him!

In this book we find out more about Cee Cee too and just what a beautiful person she is. We also see alot of Damon's daughter Charlie who is delightful.

The story centres around the town preparing for a chocolate festival so there is much descriptive talk of recipes and chocolate....if you are like me have something nearby to munch on whilst you read to curb those cravings!!

I love Rebecca's writing style. I found the book flowed well. She writes with such warmth that I connect with the characters and yearn to be there and be part of the community. I do miss them now I have finished all three stories and will be waiting with baited breath for the next installment. I shall even stock up on gingerbread in anticipation.

Thank you Rebecca for such good stories that have entertained me in the sun this weekend.
